5 Must-See Attractions in Frankfurt

Is there a city that punches above its weight class quite like Germany’s fifth-largest? Right there is part of your answer. Because Frankfurt is not Germany’s capital or flagship city. It isn’t even the capital of its own state (that would be Wiesbaden).

Frankfurt, Germany Skyline
What Frankfurt is, however, is a dynamo of a financial centre. Berlin, Hamburg, Munich and Cologne may have more people (though to be fair, the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region ranks second) but even Germany’s capital can’t match Frankfurt’s economic clout.

On this front Frankfurt has much going for it. The Hesse city practically occupies the centre of the European Union. The European Central Bank, Deutsche Bundesbank, Frankfurt Stock Exchange and many powerful commercial banks are all headquartered in Frankfurt. Not too shabby. Now you know why no other Alpha city (that all-important classification from the Globalization and World Cities Research Network) has less people.

Not entirely coincidentally, Frankfurt is also a nonpareil transport hub in continental Europe. Only Amsterdam, and maybe Brussels, can touch it. Frankfurt Airport is one of the world's best and, indeed, busiest international airports by passenger traffic. It’s also ground zero for Lufthansa, Germany's flag carrier and Europe’s largest airline. Moreover, Frankfurt Central Station is one of the largest rail terminals on the continent.

A lot of people, then, do business in and pass through the city every single day. But when they book luxury hotels in Frankfurt, what is there for them to see outside of the boardroom? Tons of remarkable stuff, as luck as it.

People often think of Frankfurt as a modern, contemporary city and those descriptors are apt. Architecturally, the city has its state of the art and borderline futuristic stars, from The Squaire to the Palais Quartier development. But there’s so much more than steel and glass to enjoy in this buzzing metropolis. Frankfurt’s restaurant and bar scene, for one, has improved by leaps and bounds over the last decade (with seven Michelin star restaurants at last count). Museums in the city are truly top-notch as well.

With all that in mind, here’s a useful list of interesting attractions in Frankfurt to keep handy.

German Architecture Museum
It makes sense, in a way, to start here. Frankfurt is a vital nerve centre for world architecture and, certainly, for German Architecture. The Deutsches Architekturmuseum, or DAM, bestows several important prizes in the field every year but, most vitally, for visitors, unfurls a terrific collection of exhibits and documents.

German Film Institute
Located, like the DAM, on Frankfurt’s Museumsufer on the south embankment of the Main River, the Deutsches Filminstitut contains one of the most prolific archives of cinematographic and cinematic material. A must for amateur and avid cinephiles alike, the DIF is a wonderful place to geek out on film.

Städel
The Städel art museum has one of the most significant collections in all of Europe, all housed in a handsome building re-designed by local architect Johannes Krahn in the 1960s. But back to that collection: try 2,700 paintings, 100,000 drawings and prints, over 600 sculptures and a huge reference library.

Senckenberg Natural History Museum
Frankfurt’s Naturmuseum Senckenberg is second only to Berlin’s natural history museum in importance but takes first place in a few categories. The world’s largest collection of avian taxidermy, for one, and some remarkable dinosaur skeletons. Over half a million people visit the museum every year.

Palmengarten
The largest botanical garden in Germany takes up a whopping 22 hectares and is located in the tony Westend-Süd district of Frankfurt. Palmengarten has a long history but was completely overhauled in the early 1990s. It’s now one of the most popular attractions in the city.

Having been in Germany for many years now, Elise has traveled to various locations and wants to inform everyone of the highlights on a number of different cities.

Keeping Expectations Realistic with Online Dating

In five years, all those criteria you carefully crafted for your online profile won’t matter.  You’ll forget you thought it was essential that your future partner was a devout reader of Kafka and had an affinity for small, fluffy dogs.  All those prayers you shot up to heaven about making the ideal decision won’t matter, because you’ll have other problems and other passions.  So why does that perfect decision carry so much weight right today?
Secular culture has an enormous effect on Christian culture.  The ways we interact with people and react to things in the news show that we only absorb bits and pieces of the Bible, calling ourselves Christians according to the verses that we like the most.  Who can argue with loving the persecuted and taking care of orphans?  But these practices have also made us forget which decisions are left to us.

“You simply will never find a human being who is pre-packaged to fit your every personality quirk, cultural preference or lifestyle particularity,” writes seminary student Jared LaFitte.  No one will ever be good enough if you don’t put the work in, and that includes the person you believe God says is The One.   This isn’t to say that Christians shouldn’t pray about the people they date.  In fact, they should still maintain a healthy prayer life–the Bible is pretty blatant about seeking guidance.  But at the end of the day, God expects wisdom acted out by his followers.

Most of us already know if the person we’re with is right for us or not, and choosing the right person to live life with shouldn’t mean that we keep praying to get God to agree with us.  “Any marriage is built and shaped by two different, sinful people adjusting to one another” (LaFitte 2013).  Marriage, contrary to popular belief, isn’t about falling in love and living happily ever after; it takes more work!  Pairing up for life is all about showing just how powerful God is while learning to serve another person with nothing held back.

Looking at Christian Mingle reviews will show you that many people are constantly searching for Mr. or Ms. Right. However, while sifting your search criteria for someone who shares your values is important, you must be careful that it doesn’t lead to unrealistically high expectations.  “Happiness doesn’t come from a spouse fitting your every selfish expectation; it comes from you and your spouse working and adjusting to serve each other while rooted in Christ’s love” (LaFitte 2013).  Moreover, one of the best ways God refines your character is through marriage where you must continually learn about both your strengths and weaknesses and how to live in harmony with another human being. Your spouse becomes a mirror to help you see areas where you could grow and improve to better honor them and God. When done in a spirit of love rather than contempt, tremendous growth and change can occur that will bless your connection and intimacy.

Future Teacher

My sister  sent me a message on Facebook last Sunday evening.  She asked me to pray for her because she is going to do her first   practice teaching.  I know that she can do it but I understand her why she's nervous, I am the same way when  I have to do something for the first time.
Anyway, good luck to you bunso.  This will be the great avenue for you to hone your  teaching skills towards becoming a better  mentor in the future.  Please know that we are not only praying for your successful teaching career ahead but we are also proud of what you have accomplished so far.  Go, break a leg,  okay?

Save A Lot Of Money With This Plumbing Advice

Now is a great time to finally learn more about plumbing. You have considered it before, but never had the time to do so.
Noisy pipes are an easy problem to fix. You must anchor all exposed pipe.
Don't use any colored tablets in your toilet. These may deodorize, but they can seriously damage the rubber pieces in the toilet, which can prevent your toilet from functioning correctly.
If the water in your toilet is low along with the toilet being clogged, you might be able to do the trick with a bucket of warm water. Repeat this once your water returns back to a lower level.
  • Check the floor for any give in order to be sure that there is no damage in the floors. You can wind up saving your money simply by noticing and treating this problem early as possible.

  • Clean your dryer's lint filter. This will help your dryer to work better and prevents fires.
  • Be sure you inspect your lint trap for tears or holes that could mean lint is going into your pipes, because this can cause bigger problems as it may mean that lint is escaping into your pipes.
Don't bother running your garbage disposal. In contrast, sending water and garbage through the disposal together can shorten its lifespan by encouraging more waste to stick to the moving parts.
If you find yourself needing a plumber, check the references of the person or company before hiring them. A plumber with bad credentials might not skilled in a particular task could actually aggravate the problem. Check out online reviews of various plumbing companies, and ask your friends and family for recommendations.

If you are experiencing sewage backing up to your toilet, there is likely a clog in the line that connects your sewer line to your main line. If you can't manage this blockage, you need to contact a professional to snake the line clear.

Plumbing requires more skills than just an understanding of water. Plumbers are most frequently called on to repair water lines.

First Snow Fall

We had our first snowfall yesterday.  The temperature is frigid till today but according to the  weather forecast,  warmer days is up ahead so that is something I am looking forward to.  Despite the below  freezing temperature today, I went for a walk after I dropped off my daughter's lunch in school.  I prepared her lunch but she forgot it in the car when she got out so hubby has it at work.  I have a very important appointment tomorrow  so the short walk did me a great favor releasing the stress I have.  Hopefully, the outcome would be positive for  tomorrow's event.

I hope and pray also that  assistance and relief would  come across the people who were badly hit by the typhoon Haiyan in Tacloban and other parts of the Philippines.  It makes me cry every time I watch the news online.  It brings back memories when our  own home was  wiped away  by a tidal wave  years ago.

The Wider Social Acceptance of Electronic Cigarettes

It's been ten years since my father have passed and I still missed him till this very day. I wish that he could have stay a little longer so he could have seen my kids. He would have enjoyed their company. When my father was still living, I used to remind him to slow down on smoking because he was getting older and his lungs is not as strong as when he was younger. He would just shrug his shoulder and said that if it's his time to go, he would accept it. He said that smoking cigarette or not, we will all die according to His plans. But that was my father, he had a mind of his own. I guess, breaking up from smoking was very hard to do. I remember when he tried to quit, he had a rough time, I guess the withdrawals from nicotine was hard on his body.

Nowadays, people who smoke cigarettes have a choice ; they can opt to use an electronic cigarette over the traditional one. Electronic cigarette has been socially accepted as smokers found out that e-cig or electronic cigarette cost less compared to the traditional cigarettes. With the former, you can eliminate the waste (cigarette butts). Vapor cigarettes or e-cigs are the modern alternative to smoking. E-Cigs remind me of the Mom that I work with in school, we work as volunteers in the school where our kids go. She is a doctor and she told us one time that they have patients who came in who has a hard time breathing. They later found out that it was caused by too much using of electronic cigarette. So even though e-cigs are widely known and used, there are still consequences when you abuse using it. The key is to use it in moderation. Anything used in moderation is not bad, so it is really up to you.

What I don't like is that when other people who smoke have no regard for other people around them, especially the kids. I don't like being around smokers because it triggers my migraine so bad and it the smoke suffocates me. I am so glad that my husband quit smoking way before I met him.

Has any of you tried E cigs? I don't smoke so there is no way really to tell what is the difference between Electronic cigarettes over traditional cigarette. There are so many companies that offer vapor cigarettes such as 21stcenturysmoke.com.

Typhoon Haiyan

I was really worried when typhoon Haiyan  hit the Philippines last Saturday because my family lives near the ocean and we have a  very frightening experience about typhoons.  Then I saw this photo in the newspaper featuring  my province and I  was  so concerned especially that I was not able to  contact  my family, I still haven't got a hold of them till now.  I think the  cell sites are down and I dunno when  they will restore it..

Thankfully, I talked to a friend from back home and she said that my family are okay.  Thanks be to God for that and for your prayers as well!  I thought that the dilemma is  over with the typhoon but now another one is getting ready to slammed   my country.  Oh dear Lord, please spare the people.

Get really good references for contractors you use on your home improvements. It is far too easy for a con artist to take your money and run, leaving you with a wreck of a home and no more money to fix it. Don't trust just anyone. Make sure you have plenty of excellent references, from people you really trust.  Just like when you move a heavy piece of furniture with drawers in it, you will want to remove these from your cabinets and counter bases before you install them. They will be much lighter and easier to deal with if these have been taken out ahead of time. They are very simple and easy to put in when you are finished.

Don't make improvements that are impractical. For example, it is not a wise invest to install a sun room with no insulation in the colder climates. Build what you want to, but try not to go beyond what will be useful in your climate.  When choosing a contractor, make sure to interview them and check references. There are few things more painful than a home improvement project gone wrong. At best you'll have to live in a house that makes you unhappy and at worse you could find yourself without a place that's safe to live in. Perform your due diligence upfront in making your choice so that you won't be surprised at the results at the end.

If you actually have water dripping out from beneath a sink or the tap, be sure that you do not try to repair this by yourself. Call an expert and get the job done right.  The kitchen is a great place to start improving your home. Look first to the walls, cleaning them up from any grease or other unsightly stains with appropriate detergents. This will spiff them up and have them quickly ready for repainting. A good color choice for a kitchen is tan. Your kitchen will always look great if you choose this color.
Change your shower curtain once a month. Showering produces excessive humidity in a bathroom that in turn causes shower curtains to develop mold and mildew. To keep your space fresh and healthy, replace your curtains. Don't buy expensive plastic curtains with hard to find designs, and you won't feel bad about replacing it.  As you begin your home improvement project, remember to be flexible. Projects may take longer than you would like, may cost more than you want to pay and may eat up more resources than you planned on using. Be flexible in all stages of the process, and you will find that the project will be a more enjoyable experience for you.

Prior to tackling a major home improvement project by yourself, it might be wise to solicit a professional opinion. A professional may have simple advice for you that saves both time and money. You can make a huge mistake if you don't talk with a professional.  Home improvement projects are so popular because they can be tailored to almost any price range or skill level. However, it is still important to proceed with caution and research any repair you plan before you begin. Hopefully, the tips in this article will prove useful. Good luck with your improvement projects!

LET or Licensure Examination for Teachers

I find out that  there is an added  6 units to the  graduating student  in education department at my sister's  school.  A friend of mine told me that the  College of Education has incorporated the review in the curriculum that way, the  graduating students can  attend to it while they are doing their practice teaching to the school that they are assigned to.  I am glad that they do.  MY sister is suppose to only have 6 units left which is the practicum but now she has  12 units  this semester.  I sent the money she needed for the  practicum uniforms and for the tuition fee as she is no longer a working student and I have to pay the whole thing.

I hope that she would be able to  gather all the information that she needs before taking the LET or Licensure Exam for Teachers and I am keeping my fingers  crossed that she does take the test, she passes so she can teach right away.

Rebuilding a House that was Burned by the Fire

I think the worse natural disaster is fire.  With typhoon, your house may get torn into pieces but at least you can still salvage some of it...
