Home Sweet Home, One Project At A Time

Whether you only have a hundred dollars to spend on a home improvement project or thousands at your disposal, the prospect of enhancing and adding value to your home is very exciting for most people. The advice that follows will be just what you need to get improvements done.  You can make your ceilings appear higher by following two simple tips. Consider painting vertical stripes on the walls, or adding a floor lamp. This can be a good way to enhance the look of your room. This can even make your room appear bigger and more spacious than it really is.  For an economical approach to floor tiling, consider installing vinyl instead of ceramic or stone. Vinyl will last due to its durability and water resistance, and installation is easy with the adhesive backing. Vinyl flooring comes in two varieties: separate tiles for small areas and large sheets for bigger areas.

Arch Windows

When you want to enhance your standard square windows, you should consider investing in arch windows. Our Murrysville business can order any these custom features through one of our many suppliers that will bring light and beauty into any home. Whether you want to combine it with your Cranberry Township home's outward swing windows, or with its double hang windows, Energy Swing Windows Inc. can create a solution that is just right for you.
Instead of purchasing white towels for your bathroom, choose darker colors or patterns. White is a color that picks up everything and needs constant bleaching. You can choose to have your fingertip towels and washcloths to be one color and your actual bath towels to be a different color altogether. It saves a lot of trouble when washing and makes your bathroom appear a lot cleaner and put together.

Paint your walls a new color. This can be a quick way to make a huge difference in your home's appearance. Different colors can change the mood of the room and give the room a different personality. Many times a coat of paint can eliminate the need to change much else.  One of the smallest improvements to your home with the biggest impact is a deep cleaning of the house. Spending the time to clean every section of your house will improve the overall smell, look, and environment of your home. A thorough cleaning is often overlooked as a cost effective method of home improvement.

If your front lawn features a large, full tree, you can add upward-facing outdoor accent lighting to emphasize the beautiful texture of the leaves and trunk. Upward lighting is also a good choice to accentuate details like trellises or archways. Outdoor accent lighting also adds significant value to the home.  Do-it-yourself hardwood floor installation is especially tempting for homeowners who want to save money by tackling the project on their own. This is fine for most faux-wood kits but if you are using actual wood that must be sanded first, it may be best to hire a professional to handle the sanding. Real wood is quite expensive, and even the smallest sanding goof can ruin the flooring.

If you are installing new flooring, try to find one that has a heating option. This is especially beneficial for colder climates, as heating in the floor will keep your feet warm. There are many kinds of flooring that offer radiant heat options including certain hardwoods, ceramic tiles, linoleum, and bamboo.  Are the fans in your home looking a bit overworked? Why not buy new fan blades and replace the old ones, so that your home looks clean. Dirty fan blades can make your home look dirty. If you are looking for an easy way to keep your home clean, try putting in new fan blades.

Never install non-operable windows during a home improvement effort. Except for picture windows or large, exotic glazing, every standard-sized window should be capable of opening. Regardless of climate, for every home there will be times of the year and times of the day when cracking the window open is the best form of air conditioning.

  1. Re-painting and remodeling the house really increases the value of it. That's one way of keeping the house pricey in the housing market.

  2. i agree that beautifully-shaped windows work wonders in improving our home's over all appearance. I also agree that we do not need big amount of money to spend on home improvement, as we can we have parts + portions of our home repaired and rehashed one at at time.
